Introducing Lady Peckett
A New Spirit
Joins the Tour
There’s a new guide in town… and she’s already making quite the impression. Lady Peckett has officially joined The Bloody Tour of York, and if her first tour is anything to go by, she’s here to make a statement. In fact, she’s already received glowing five-star reviews, proving that a few centuries out of the spotlight hasn’t dulled her storytelling skills, or sharp wit.
Who is Lady Peckett?
Based on the real historical figure from York’s past, Lady Peckett was the landlady of the famously haunted Golden Fleece and wife to John Peckett, Mayor of York in 1701. But just because she’s been dead a few hundred years doesn’t mean she’s lost her standards.
Summoned from the spirit world (with the help of a slightly intoxicated Mad Alice and a ouija board), she joins The Bloody Tour of York as a tour guide bringing her own flavour of storytelling to the blood soaked streets of York.
Expect tales of bloody history and hauntings, all told with macabre humour, sharp wit, and gruesome historical detail, these guides love a gory death. This isn’t your average tour, it’s the dark, twisted side of York with a cackle or two along the way.
A Bloody Brilliant Debut
Lady Peckett made her debut on Sunday 1st June 2025 and she didn’t disappoint. With her mop cap, dark curls, emerald green dress, piercing stare, and unnerving knowledge of the city’s sinister past, she left guests thoroughly entertained and envious of her fashion.
Here’s what they had to say:
“Really great tour! we had lady peckett instead of mad alice, but she was brilliant and very welcoming and friendly. very interesting and entertaining and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting york.” – TripAdvisor
“A really funny actress/guide that made a great show telling the bloodiest details of the history of York. Best city tour ever.” – TripAdvisor
“We had the pleasure of joining Lady Peckett on her very first bloody tour round York last night. We were expecting Alice but she had been on the gin apparently! The tour did not disappoint. Lady Peckett was engaging, funny and informative. She ensured she spoke to everyone in the group and was lovely with our 8 year old daughter, who was the only child in the group, making sure she could hear everything and involving her when talking. Some of the tales told are very gruesome and we learnt a lot of new things about York even though this isn’t our first visit to the city. Our daughter Holly loved the experience & enjoyed the tour so much she wanted to go around again on the 8pm tour! Thank you Lady P.” – TripAdvisor
Fancy Meeting Her?
Lady Peckett now haunts York’s streets weekly, but we won’t be revealing when. If you’re lucky enough to get her as your guide, consider it a treat.
Whether it’s Lady Peckett or Mad Alice every Bloody Tour of York promises gruesome tales and a healthy dose of historical humour.
